Vision

Our vision is to the be most trusted law firm for high-growth companies and those that build them.

The two big things to see in that vision are:

(1) Our focus on high-growth companies. We are narrow in that focus and are not aiming to be a full-service business law firm that supports the needs of all businesses. Instead, our desire is to have depth in our expertise surrounding the specific needs faced by high-growth companies. High-growth companies, by definition, are those that are going from very small to very big in a very short period of time. Our craft allows us to focus on the unique challenges and opportunities faced by businesses like that. We can anticipate their needs, we can apply proven strategies to that ambition, and we can help ensure that these companies have the support they need.

(2) Our interest in trust. We’re not trying to be the biggest firm, to have the broadest practice offering, or to achieve the most transaction volume… we’re singularly focused on being the most trusted firm. How do we do hope to do that? By being committed to excellence in our work, demonstrating a business focus in the way we help our clients, being accessible to the companies we work with (regardless of their size and stage), investing in relationships all the way through, and having as much fun while we work as is professionally possible. That’s why those things are enshrined as our core values.

Core Values

In whatever we do, we ask ourselves whether it aligns with our core values. These values define who we are as a team and firm. We take them seriously, we talk about them a lot, and we hold each other accountable to them (all the way to the top).

Excellence

Our standard is high. To earn the trust of our clients in a space that has high-demand, fast-growth, and high-pressure, we are only satisfied with excellence in the way we deliver our services. Excellence does not mean perfection. We have humility as a team to recognize that no one is perfect. But we challenge each other every day to grow stronger, sharper and more effective in all that we do.

Business-focused

We are business minded in all we do. In fact, many of the people on our team are entrepreneurs that are aiming to support clients in the ways we were looking for as entrepreneurs, but couldn’t find. The context we’re providing counsel to defines the kind of work we do and the way we deliver it. It’s critical that we understand the needs of the business we’re working with and that we’re effectively supporting those needs. Exceptional legal support helps facilitate business growth.

Accessible

The most common complaint about lawyers that we hear is that they’re hard to reach. And if you can reach them, you can’t understand them and you can’t get clear, pragmatic answers. Frankly, this is ridiculous. Your lawyer should be easy to reach when you need them most. You should be able to get clear answers to the questions you have. This shouldn’t be that revolutionary, but because it’s so rare in the legal industry, it’s important to us that we prioritize this.

Relational

We are very picky about the companies we with. We’re looking for companies that we can support for years of growth. We are interested in the people behind the businesses. That’s where the trust is built, and that’s who we aim to empower in all of our work.

We prioritize fun as a team. We literally make decisions with a framework question of: “Which option would be more fun?” We believe that you should have a lot of fun with the people you work with. And not just at a standard annual retreat or dinner, but regularly. That fun should be what you’re immersed in. So we invest in that. We look for ways to have fun together on the regular, and want your experience here to be lit.
